Italian is one of the most popular romance languages to learn. It is derived from Latin, and it is spoken by over 85 million people worldwide. Italian is the official language of Italy, and parts of Switzerland; it is also popular in the United States, Canada, and Argentina.
When you learn Italian, it opens you up to all the Italian history, food, literature, poetry, and art. To learn this beautiful language and make real progress, you need an Italian learning course with a real native speaker, and here is why! When you learn with apps and watch a few videos, you are not only missing out on practicing the language and its nuances, but you are also running in circles with your learning method.
At The Languages Corner, you will experience meaningful interactions with a native teacher, which will provide you with:
In addition to teaching you all the aspects of the language, grammar, speaking, listening, reading, and writing, we focus on:

Ciao! My name is Suzana and I was born in Zagabria (Croatia), where I studied Italian language and I specialized in the teaching of Italian as a foreign language (L2), especially for English and Slavic speakers. Following my BA (Laurea), I attended two Italian teaching courses, one at the University of Perugia and the other at Fondazione Cini in Venice. Even though my mother tongue is Croatian, I possess mother tongue fluency in Italian, which I taught at three high schools in Croatia, as well as at the University of Zagabria. Following this experience, I moved to Bari (Puglia) where I continued to teach both at the university level and privately. Since 2007, I work as a professor at the University L’ Orientale in Naples, Italy. I am very passionate about languages and I enjoy teaching them to individuals and small groups, with whom I use a personalized and alternative method of instruction.
Ciao! My name is Ivana and I am a teacher of Italian as a Second Language. After my BA in Foreign Languages (I speak English, French and Spanish), I earned the DITALS certificate, which provided me with a specialization in teaching Italian to foreigners. I’m currently teaching in the Italian public school and collaborating with different Italian language teaching organizations in Italy. Since 2016, I also began working as an educator to train Italian teachers, both in the public and private sector. In my lessons I use the communicative approach, which is based on real-life situations. When I teach, my topics are always different and interesting. It’s really difficult for one of my students to get bored! In addition to my job (that I love!), I am passionate about traveling, cooking, reading novels, and belly dancing.
Born and raised in Sicily, I studies Modern Literature at the University of Catania, although I then followed my great passion for ceramics and art and made it my profession. I worked for 15 years in a large laboratory and opened my own studio. From 2014 to 2017 I moved to Silicon Valley, where I started to give Italian language classes to adults and children, both in person and online. In 2018, my family and I moved to Boston where I taught Italian to adult groups and began teaching at Scuola PIB in Cambridge (MA) as well. I love teaching my beautiful language and Italian culture! In my free time, I listen to music and Italian radio, read, spend time in the kitchen experimenting and creating good Italian and non-Italian food, work in the garden and travel.

Learning is a process that takes strong commitment, motivation, organization, and a lot of effort, especially from our brains. Many feel that these are limited
It’s ok if you are a Spanish, French or one of the Romance language speakers. It is somewhat more difficult for an English speaker trying to learn it for the first time. If you, instead, already have experience learning a language, it is not too bad. No matter your background, it is NOT an impossible task! Give it a try by purchasing one lesson.
Yes. All our teachers, in addition to being 100% native speakers, have the qualifications and/or the experience to teach languages to adults and some also to children. This means that the teacher has worked or is currently working in schools, universities or other private settings. The Languages Corner finds talented teachers and hires them to teach online.
Below you’ll find an approximate breakdown of the hours needed to learn Italian seriously (or any other language). This depends on a combination of factors, i.e. your internal motivation to do some work at home, in addition to our course, and practicing on your own during your spare time. Here’s the ideal scenario for you to speed things up:
Yes, we do. Public courses with other international Italian learners are offered two-three times per year (September, January and June), whereas you can take private Italian lessons or private group lessons anytime you prefer. Please contact us for more information: valeria@thelanguagescorner.com
You can choose one of the following options:
Public group courses, where you learn with other international students. These courses are capped at 6 to maximize your learning experience and the group (minimum 2 participants) is put together by us. There are specific months of the year when we run our group courses (mostly September and January and some shorter courses in the Summer) and are based on a set number of lessons (between 10-15 lessons). Each lesson lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The private lesson costs depend on your weekly frequency. For example, if you decide to learn Italian once a week, the cost per hour per lesson is $31; for lessons twice a week, you’ll pay $29 per lesson per hour; whereas for lessons three times a week, you’ll pay $27per lesson per hour.
For private group lessons, the lesson prices range from $18 per person per hour to $22 per person for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
For public group courses, the average cost is about $220 for 10 lessons and $330 for 15 lessons. Each lesson lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes.
When you decide to start your lessons, we count how many lesson days there are in a given month. For example, if you decide to attend lessons once a week on Wednesdays and there are 4 Wednesdays in a month, the calculation is $31 per lesson x 4 lessons, which is equal to $124. Basically, we calculate the cost based on the number of lesson days. If you purchase more than one consecutive month, a discount on the total applies.
There are also cases when a student wants to purchase an entire level of Italian. In this circumstance, we calculate the total cost and provide a discounted price. There is also the possibility to break down the payment in reasonable smaller payments.
We mostly take USD or Euros (payments in other currencies are also possible) and you can pay through the website with credit card, PayPal or Transferwise. For US military personnel, we also offer wire transfers through Navy Federal.
Find your motivation and goals. The latter will give you a reason for learning and make you visualize your objective.
Start learning the essential phrases to be able to get around Italy.
Take a class. We can help you with that! All our lessons (except for the public courses) come with a complimentary consultation with one of our teachers, where you can get to know the instructor, as well as ask questions and get your level evaluated (the latter doesn’t apply to absolute beginners).
Find a native speaker you can practice with. We can help you with that too!
